A brand-new festival is arriving in the Isle of Skye this summer. The Spirit of Skye brings together Scotland’s finest whisky, gin, beer, music and food. Featuring major drinks brands, local experts, creative masterclasses, ceilidhs, live music, local produce and two of Scotland's finest chefs. Whether you’re a drinks connoisseur, a food lover or simply looking for a good time with friends, there’s something for everybody at the Spirit of Skye. See you soon!

Includes entry to The Spirit of Skye's whisky and gin distillers and brewers, vouchers for five tasting samples of gin or whisky of at least 10mls, a voucher for a tasting measure of a beer, a Spirit of Skye Festival Glencairn crystal nosing and tasting glass with lanyard.

Lesley Taylor - Talisker Distillery

Talisker Distillery is the oldest working Distillery on the Isle of Skye. Come and learn about the history of Talisker while experiencing a journey through the spirit from its origins straight from the still, following on with 4 more of our award winning expressions including our exceptional Talisker 25 year old. Tasting - New Make Spirit, 10 year old, Distillers Edition, 25 year old and 57 degrees North. The Masterclasses are sponsored by RBS.

This Gin Masterclass & Cocktail Tasting will start with the beginnings of Gin drinking habits from the illicit stills of London’s late 1600’s. Starting with the older classic gin cocktails and working forward to more modern, contemporary drinks, the session will showcase the versatility of Gin as a category and give a bit of history on the celebrated spirit (with some tasty libations along the way!) The Masterclasses are sponsored by RBS.

The Spirit of Skye Festival is a fantastic blend of food, drink and entertainment and I look forward to being involved." Born in Glasgow, this 45-year-old multi-award winning chef has been hailed as a major talent, a gentleman of the kitchen, a world class educator and one who could step into a three Michelin-star kitchen and feel at home. Real Ale Masterclass with a Culinary Twist
Eric Jones & Ali Wilson - Cuillin Brewery & Sligachan Hotel
Venue: Exhibition Room

The Cuillin Brewery is located in Glen Sligachan, surrounded by the formidable Cuillin mountain range and some of the freshest waters in Scotland. Join master brewer of 20+ years, Eric Jones, as he gives an insight into the process of brewing Real Ale with the water that runs straight off the Cuillin. No masterclass would be complete without a sampling session, where the range of Cuillin Brewery Ales will be available to taste. Sligachan Hotel's Head Chef Ali Wilson will then take some time to talk about interesting ways to include Real Ale in your cooking. Expect some freshly prepared nibbles and a recipe to take away and try at home. The Masterclasses are sponsored by RBS.

Whisky Galore Film
Venue: Theatre

A showing of the original Whisky Galore film from 1949. Filmed at Barra in the outer Hebrides, Whisky Galore was based upon a true incident, the foundering of a cargo ship off the Isle Of Eriskay with 50,000 cases of Scotch aboard. The Scottish islanders of Todday by-pass war time rationing and delight in smuggling cases of their favourite tipple from the wrecked ship.

David McKelvie - Seumas' Bar
Venue: Exhibition Room

Seumas' Bar is an award winning whisky bar, stocking over 400 of Scotland's best loved as well as rarest malts. Whisky Connoisseur, David McKelvie, will take you on a journey through Scotland's whisky regions, telling tales of days gone by as well as explaining the notable differences between whiskies produced in different regions. From Speyside to the Highlands and from the Lowlands to the Islands, sample an array of whisky whilst expanding your knowledge on Scotland's Uisge Beatha (Water of Life). Scott Davies - Head Chef, The Three Chimneys

Head Chef Scott Davies joined The Three Chimneys in June 2015 and is now happily settled into this once in a life-time opportunity. He is delighted by the energy, enthusiasm and commitment from his kitchen brigade and new LUNCH, DINNER and TASTING MENUS are constantly evolving as the island’s seasons progress. The food will continue to develop, but the ethos will remain the same: the absolute best of seasonal and local produce from Skye, Land and Sea, creatively enhanced with the finest techniques of modern and traditional Scottish cooking. In 2013, Chef Scott competed in the BBC’s Masterchef: the Professionals. He was runner-up but the experience transformed his confidence and forced him to define the style of food he wanted to create. He is forging a brilliant team here on the island and giving many young chefs the opportunity to learn their trade in every section of the kitchen. Scott and his team have been re-awarded the much coveted AA Three Rosettes Award and were voted in at number FIVE in the Trip Advisor poll of the finest restaurants in the United Kingdom. The Scottish Ceilidh allStars have brought together a veritable feast of musical talent to form The Spirit of Skye Ceilidh Band for the first Spirit of Skye Festival. Featuring the world class fiddling of Jonny Hardie (Old Blind Dogs), Charlie McKerron (Capercaillie) and local legend Ronan Martin, accompanied by Brian McAlpine (Session A9) on piano and dance calling, we have the allStar ingredients for a night to remember. All the dances will be called to make sure that everyone can enjoy a night of traditional Scottish ceilidh dancing. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to have a night out with some of Scotland's finest traditional musicians.

The Dime Notes dig back into the blues-drenched sounds of clarinet-driven 1920’s New Orleans jazz, unearthing a repertoire of stomps, blueses, and forgotten gems of the era from musicians such as Johnny Dodds, Jelly Roll Morton and Red Nichols.

The Dime Notes present a fresh take on a timeless style, emphasising the propulsive grooves and sultry melodies which made early jazz revolutionary, controversial, and wildly popular.
